The FL2 Micro-Rail System™ is an answer to a seemingly simple but ultimately complex challenge: How can sunglasses—especially those with curved lenses and frames oriented to an active life—compact down to the most portable size possible? Sunglasses with a curved and often wraparound design normally cannot be compacted, and take up a lot of space inside unwieldy, bulky cases when they’re not in use. We made it our passion to tackle this problem … and in the process engineered a completely new approach.

After years of development, working with some great minds in engineering and optics, we brought our patented design to the sunglasses market via Popticals. Using a rail system built into the frames, the lenses and frames extend outward for use, and then inward and parallel to each other for uniquely compact, scratch-resistant storage. This breakthrough allows Popticals to keep the curved design elements of sunglasses designed for active lives, without large and bulky storage.
Bold New Technology
At the heart of our patented design is the FL2 Micro-Rail System™. Using a rail system built into the frames, the lenses slide inward and parallel to each other for compact storage. The temple sections of the sunglasses fold inwards using two hinges for a truly small carrying size. The technology allows the sunglasses to keep the curved design elements of wraparound sunglasses for active use without the large and bulky storage size.
PATENTED INNOVATION
The system, covered by multiple utility patents, uses stainless steel pins that move along a track within the frames for smooth and effortless movement. A powerful magnet guides and locks in the connecting pieces in the center of the frames to create a secure and solid connection when in use; the magnets then disconnect just as simply for collapsibility and safe storage. All components of the FL2 Micro-Rail System™ are made from corrosion and rust-proof materials to ensure durable, long-lasting functionality.
